BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, so muscle contractions are reduced. This temporarily decreased muscle activity helps reduce the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines and/or lateral canthal lines, depending on area of injection.
Typically, the initial doses of reconstituted BOTOX® Cosmetic induce chemical denervation of the injected muscles 1 to 2 days after injection, increasing in intensity during the first week.
